2:1. ଅର୍ତ୍ତକ୍ଷସ୍ତ ରାଜାଙ୍କର ଅଧିକାରର ବିଂଶତମ ବର୍ଷ ରେ ନିଶାନ ମାସ ରେ ଏହିପରି ଘଟିଥିଲା। ଯେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖ ରେ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଥିବା ବେଳେ ମୁଁ ସହେି ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ନଇେ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଦଲେି। ଏହା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ମୁଁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତ ରେ ଦୁଃଖିତ ହାଇେ ନ ଥିଲି।

2:1. Then in the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought to me, I took the wine and gave it to the king. Previously I had not been depressed in the king's presence.

2:1. Early the following spring, in the month of Nisan, during the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes' reign, I was serving the king his wine. I had never before appeared sad in his presence.

2:1. And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.
